About Guna Art

The Mola

Each piece has mola appliqués handcrafted by the Guna Indians of Guna Yala off the coast of Panama. The mola appliqué is a meticulous technique that involves layering and stitching multiple pieces of colorful fabric to create intricate designs that are embellished with touches of embroidery. The process requires precision, patience, and a keen eye for detail. Each mola can take between 2-4 weeks depending upon the size and design.

Our Purpose

Our History

On small, sandy islands surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, I first visited Guna Yala when I was 20 years old while visiting my Panamanian family. Over the years, I've supported them with humanitarian aid and in the process I learned about their beautiful culture, customs and molas.Today, we're partnering with this tribe to create unique, one-of-a kind denim jean jacket collection. Sales from this collection improve their local economy and community.
